Description and methods employed (what, how, where and when)[edit]
What[edit]
The LIFE-IESS Project website will be activated within the first six months from the start of the project (22/11/13) and it will be enriched during the four years of implementation by contribution of partners.
The main objective is to communicate LIFE-IESS Project to the general public.
The web site will be regularly updated and implemented with an RSS service.
The Website will consist of sections addressing different information needs and IESS area of interest (Mobility, Land, Energy, Water), starting from informing about LIFE-IESS general purposes and activities. The Website have public and private areas and will allow registered users.
It will also allow feedback and registration of interested parties with a specific workspace available for the interested stakeholders especially during stakeholder consultation (A1). Feedback will be recorded and follow-up will be assured and registered. Each beneficiaries will reserve an area on its website with links to the LIFE-IESS official website.
This action belongs to D - Communication and dissemination actions set of actions.
How[edit]
A professional Communication Agency, experienced in the sector, will be involved with a contract which will include the implementation of the web site with all other fundamental aspects of the implementation of IESS communication strategy, see Actions D2, D3, D4).
Partners staff will implement and update the website during project implementation with news, documents, photographs and other information about environmental indicators. The key principle underlying the portal will be maximum access. A few areas must necessarily be restricted (eg. management area). The main digital coordination tool in the project will be a workspace service that provides project management, archiving and distribution functions to the subscribed users. This Workspace will be used for all internal information exchange, document management and reporting.
Four main areas of interest will be developed following the main themes of IESS approach (mobility, land, energy and water).
The website will also offer links with specific platforms such as weADAPT (http://weadapt.org/) an online open space on climate adaptation issues (including the synergies between adaptation and mitigation) which allows practitioners, researchers and policy makers to access credible, high quality information and to share experiences and lessons learnt with the weADAPT community.
To attract young people, the website will also collect and reference free games and apps to download such as GreenDrops, GoGreen, Carbon Footprint Calculator, GreenMeter, Green School Revolution.
The LIFE-IESS website will be properly advertised on the communication channels to which the partners have access and will attract a relevant audience. Media works (eg web/pod-casts) should be developed and released on Web Site to explain the main features of the Project or to disseminate the results and main issues of LIFE-IESS Events. Interviews and videos should also be prepared on webcasting sites (e.g. YouTube, ePractice). Finally, the Website will be the mean to establish and maintain links with other projects and organisations which are working on the same field.
