Stated informally, a performability measure quantifies a system’s “ability to perform in the presence of faults.” This extended view of resilience thus opens doors that are closed to a strict dependability interpretation. For example, it permits summarization of an entire history of service quality variations caused by changes that occur over a lengthy, yet bounded period of time.
